Team Vance -- Family Fall Fest is coming!!
As some of you may be aware, Team Vance's annual Family Fall Fest is happening this Thursday at the youth center. It's free to all Team Vance families and is our biggest base-wide event that our Services folks sponsor. Unfortunately, I missed last year's due to me being in T-1 pilot instructor training, but I'm assured that it is a big deal! Free food, plenty of games for the kids to play and informational booths from both Vance AFB organizations and local businesses. It's scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and last until 7 p.m., so please stop by and enjoy the fun. As of Wednesday's staff meeting, the 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron is in need of volunteers so if you'd like to help out, please call 7510.
I had the pleasure of awarding this year's Top Wheels awards and our base vehicles look great. Special kudos go out to A1C Mike Olmeda from the 25th Flying Training Squadron and Brad McCormick who has his massive fuel truck looking brand new. Thanks to all of our transportation warriors for making our vehicles ready to perform their mission.
Please continue to keep Col Wade Johnson, our vice commander, and all of our deployed personnel in your prayers. Wade continues to serve our U.S. Air Force with distinction in Iraq and is another example of a Team Vance Expeditionary Airman serving our nation.
Capt Jason King and his weather professionals are starting to change their tune -- temperatures are starting to fall and our very mild summer is about to come to an end. Be vigilant regarding your on- and off-duty activities, stay mindful of being safe in everything you do (ensure you're using alcohol responsibly), and we'll continue to be successful in accomplishing our vital mission. Enjoy your weekend and the Callan family will see you at the Family Fall Fest!
