Be a member, help Vance keep club Published Nov. 29, 2006 By Col. Bryan Benson 71st Flying Training Wing Vance Air Force Base, Okla. -- Team Vance -- it is time to take care of our club. There have been a number of articles published on taking care of your wingman and I think we should all realize that our wingmen are not only our colleagues who work beside us on a day to day basis, but also those various morale, welfare and recreation facilities around base that take care of us. The Vance Club is one of those facilities. While dining at the Vance Club for lunch on Wednesday with the Honorable Ernie Currier, I was reminded of what a valuable facility we have and sometimes take for granted. No other employer provides such a benefit. What sets us apart from being a worker at General Motors or IBM is that we have our own institutionalized facility. The club is there to cater to our own special needs. If we fail to become members and use its services, we may lose this valuable facility. The club is under consideration for closure. We have made great strides in terms of customer improvements and food service needs. The Vance Club and its employees continue to remain dedicated to its members by offering more variety. Please utilize this special service and become a member of the club. If the club closes, we will lose our venue for the many events that we hold on base. There will be no more Enlisted Appreciation nights, assignment nights as we know them, no more graduation dinners and no more flight line breakfast every morning. Between the coupons the club provides and the reduced meal prices in comparison to the commercial sector, you make your money back on the cost of dues. If you are already a member of the club, thank you for your patronage. If you are not a member, I ask you to reconsider. It is a great facility that I think we all take for granted. Like everything else we do here, its success depends on the support of all of our team members. The Vance Club needs your support. Thank you for all you do for America, Team Vance, and please have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
