Happy New Year, welcome to 2005 Published Nov. 27, 2006 By Col Mike Callan 71st Flying Training Wing Vance Air Force Base, Okla. -- Team Vance -- let me probably be the last to say Happy New Year and welcome to 2005! As I opened the Safety Day briefing on Monday, I sensed that all of you (OK, most of you) had a wonderful holiday and were eager to get back to accomplishing our Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training mission, while continuing to give first-class medical and support services to the entire team. As we begin what will certainly be a fantastic 2005, let me remind you of our unchanged mission: 71st Flying Training Wing Mission: As the U.S. Air Force's only JSUPT base, the 71st Flying Training Wing annually trains more than 450 United States Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied student pilots for worldwide deployment and Air Expeditionary Force support. Employing more than 2,300 military and civilian personnel, the wing administers a $122 million budget maintaining 724 facilities, and flies more than 90,000 flying hours using the wing's 203 T-37, T-38 and T-1 aircraft. 71st FTW/CC Strategic Intent: n Operate by our U.S. Air Force core values (Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence In All We Do) n Build an expeditionary air warrior atmosphere that demands our immediate training excellence while personally preparing ourselves for future expeditionary employment n Establish a cohesive and cooperative "team" approach among all Vance Air Force Base warriors (military and civilian) and the Enid community to mutually accomplish our mission n Dedicate our wing's collective resources to constantly improve the quality of life of all Team Vance members Wing Motto: Expeditionary Air Warriors Training Tomorrow's Leaders! Vance AFB's reputation of delivering the world best pilots to fill operational and training cockpits is second to none, and all of you collectively contribute to that untarnished reputation! Our machines do not make us good, YOU do! I look forward to watching all of you continuing to contribute in a SAFE way to perform your vital role in making Vance AFB a great place to serve our U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense and the American people! Welcome back and be safe!
