It’s back

The Vance aircraft’s landing broke at Will Rogers World Airport during a touch and go Dec. 9, 2004. The aircraft was subsequently divered to Tinker for a belly landing. Following the landing, the Vance crash recovery team responded and moved the T-38 from the runway (returning it to active status) to a hangar at Tinker until the safety board could convene and release the aircraft back to maintenance. As a result of the landing, the aircraft had extensive belly skin and substructural damage to bulkheads that necessitated the aircraft be returned to depot for repair. The aircraft returned to Vance last week for the aircraft component repair section to add the final touches before rolling aircraft 67-14857 back into operation Tuesday.
