Honorary pilot

Capt. Jonathan Burd, 25th Flying Training Squadron instructor pilot, presents Gavin Zelnicek with a T-38 lithograph and certificate designating the 5th grader from Hennessey, Okla., a 71st Flying Training Wing honorary pilot. A contingent of 25th FTS IPs paid a surprise visit to Gavin, diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, who has always wanted to be a pilot. In addition to the litho and certificate, the 25th Shooters presented the young man with a wide array of honors, including a wing coin and honorary pilot certificate signed by Col. Richard Klumpp, Jr., 71st FTW commander. Photo courtesy of Amber Burd
