End of an era: Last T-37 student flight
(Photo by Frank McIntyre) Brian Killam and Fred Froemming, Computer Sciences Corporation aircraft maintenance, welcome back the last T-37 student flight to be flown from Vance Air Force Base. The two maintainers were also part of Team Vance when the T-37s started arriving in September 1960. Mr. Killam, currently the maintenance operations manager, recalls most of the “Tweets” arrived straight from the factory like the first one he was crew chief for, number 61-2919, with only three hours of flying time on it. His first one is now retired but one of similar vintage, 61-2499, still flies from Vance and has 19,931 flying hours.
